One of the best ways I have found to help women gain confidence during the different phases of our lives is with a classy and elegant, but super sexy and romantic boudoir photoshoot. I have the privilege of working with amazing women for so many different ways that bring them to me - for me to help them document a special occasion such as a birthday for a loved one, an anniversary gift, or as a way for them to celebrate the incredible woman they have become and they do a photoshoot just for themselves.

Each woman that I meet is so different in her own way, from the way she looks, to the type of session she wants, to the reason that has brought her to my studio. But each woman has several things in common, as well. One thing is that each woman is so beautiful in her own unique way, whether she realizes it or not, and what I feel is the biggest part of my job is to make them realize it. The other thing all women have in common is that we ALL have our own insecurities, whether they be about our bodies or just simply in our heads about our bodies. I love the feeling of seeing a woman, who becomes my friend after her session, see her images when she really gets that she is a beautiful creature to be celebrated. What an amazing thing that we all need to do for ourselves.

Teresa Lee Photography has partnered with VEDA Salon & Spa for the 2nd annual "Face of VEDA" competition in Colorado Springs.

The “Face of Veda” is the spokes model for Veda Salon & Spa’s 3 Colorado Springs locations and 1 Denver location. The “FOV” spokes model participates in live events and modeling photo shoots promoting the Veda Brand.

Hundreds of entries were received and reviewed by a committee that included Teresa Lee Photography, Carrie Perkins (Chief Operating Officer for Veda), the Veda Management team and others. The committee interviewed many of the entrants and chose 12 “faces” to advance. The 12 finalists were selected based upon several criteria including their charitable actions, non-profit organizations they support, and community involvement. The finalists were styled at Veda Salon & Spa, provided wardrobe & styled by Muse Me, Inc and photographed by Teresa Lee Photography.

On July 14th, Veda Salon & Spa’s Falcon Landing location hosted a cocktail party to announce the winner of the 2012 Face of Veda competition. The 12 finalists were invited to attend this glamorous event which featured “Veda”tini’s and h’orderves. As the crowd gathered around framed images of the 12 finalists, Carrie Perkins announced a couple of surprise twists. First, all 12 finalists will be featured in a 2012 calendar that will showcase their charities and that the proceeds from the calendar will be donated to those charities. The big surprise of the night was that for 2012, there are to be 2 “Faces of Veda”. Congratulations to Jillian Morales and Joanne Bonicelli! Both of these incredible women will be photographed by Teresa Lee Photography and featured in extensive marketing campaigns for Veda Salon & Spa all over the state for the next 12 months.

Teresa Lee Photography and VEDA Salon & Spa, along with Luisa Graff Diamonds & Jewelers and Muse Me, Inc all contributed styling efforts and prizes to the winners.

Travel Plans!!

We are getting so excited about our upcoming travel plans! One of the most exciting things we get to do is travel to great places to work with customers who become lifelong friends. We will be heading to New York for what will be an AMAZING wedding in September. We will be there September 9-13th.

After that trip, we head straight to Memphis and Northeast Arkansas to work with some most fabulous high school seniors and families there. Dates for that trip are September 16-18 and only a couple of slots remain open, so email robert@teresaleephotography.com right away if you want to book one of those appointments! Soon after that, we will head to Salt Lake City, so if you're in that area, we'll be coming your way!

Senior Portrait Season has begun!!

"It's the most wonderful time of the year....!" Most people sing this around Christmas time, but *I* sing it around THIS time of the year! When those wonderful high school seniors begin to make their way to our studio, I get almost giddy!

What I love most about photographing high school seniors is not only getting to create beautiful images of beautiful people, but in getting to know new people and finding out what makes them who they are. My philosophy is that many people can take nice photos of someone, but what I want is to create an experience for teenagers that is fun and all about THEM! I begin with a consultation with the senior and one of their parents, where I will ask many questions about what they like, who they are, what music they are listening to right now, how they want to be remembered when they leave high school... all to help me gain insight so that I can make their senior portraits exactly how they envision them.

New York State of Mind

Robert and I recently returned from New York City, where we had THE most incredible visit. I had the huge honor of having my 8th Kodak Picture of the Day displayed in Times Square on February 17th, so we flew out to see it. If you know Robert and me well at all, you'll know that California feels like home to us. However, Manhattan feels like our 2nd home. I can't explain how much I love the energy of that city...

We just happened to be there during NY Fashion Week (can anyone hear me still squealing with delight right now?) which was so very exciting, and we saw Donald Trump walking out of Trump Tower as we passed in front on 5th Avenue. But, I think the highlight of the trip for us was spending lots of time in Central Park after the 9 inches of snowfall that delayed our flight the day before. It was absolutely beautiful - and we live in Colorado! Who knew that there could be snow as pretty as ours!

Above and just below are some snapshots (borrowed Lawson's camera for the trip so I could throw it in my bag) from Central Park...

We also had such an incredible time at two of our favorite restaurants -- Becco and Lattanzi - both found on Restaurant Row, where the food is amazing and the staff even more so. Katelyn is THE server to ask for at Becco. She's helped me each time I've been there to choose the perfect entree - the homemade pastas. Thank you to Eddie, general manager, at Lattanzi for making our relaxing lunch spectacular!

Now, here is the reason we went: Seeing this photo in Times Square - the heart of New York City, where the emotions of 9/11 are still very raw - was emotional for me to stand there and see it and feel it as people joined in with us to celebrate all firefighters and how they put their lives on the line everyday to protect us.

Justin & Jenna Marquis came to me for their maternity session when we got the idea to do this shot after finding out Jutin is a firefighter. What a tender moment he shared with his baby girl and how I described him as "velvet over steel." Thanks to the Marquis family for this great photo opportunity.

Colorado Springs Independent "Best Of"

Wow.... We just found out that I have been voted "Best Photographer" in Southern Colorado by the readers of the Colorado Springs Independent. The Indy is Southern Colorado's largest publication with over 120,000 readers each week. This is probably THE most incredible honor I've been given in my career. I was thinking about it, in comparison to my photos being in Times Square on the Kodak Jumbotron and how each of the 7 times they've been up there, how emotional it is -- how surreal it has been to stand there looking at an image that I created on that big screen where millions of people will pass by to see my work... that feeling is like none other I've ever experienced. But, this... THIS recognition has got to be THE best thing ever because it has come as a result of my clients and their experience with me. I am truly humbled and so thankful.

THANK YOU to all of our clients who voted for us!! You guys are the best! I look back, in awe, of how much I have learned and grown through the years since I began this journey. Who would've thought when I started photographing a handful of friends and family just 8 short years ago that it would grow into a thriving business that has taken me all over the country to photograph thousands of people. This year has brought me to places in this beautiful country to work with some amazing people and I am blessed with a job that most people would only dream of having. From being asked to document a baby's first cry as he enters the world to working with dancers on a hit TV show (love you, SYTYCD guys!!!!), this has been the wildest and most fun ride that I could ever imagine.

I am so humbled and honored by the opportunities I've been given and where it all started. My thanks go out to my friends and mentors, who have come alongside me and been instrumental in my growth and success. I can remember as a little girl, being photographed by Robert Jenkins of Robert Jenkins Photography in Wynne, AR, who was our family photographer. This man has been my photographic idol since I can remember. I decided throughout the years that he had the coolest job in the world, and I think he is one of the greatest photographers I've ever known. He has been so generous in answering my questions about starting a business and helping with lighting and finding the perfect vendors and I wouldn't have such a great business if it weren't for what I've learned from him.

My good friend, Laura Stetser, of Laura Lynne Photography in Roseville, CA - a huge thanks to her for being such a sweet friend and supporter and incredibly talented photographer, who has walked this path with me and I'm enjoying seeing her success, as well. We found friendship with each other and began our journey toward our dream and have seen each other through the hard times that it takes to make the dream a reality -- the long nights, the 70 and 80 hour work weeks, the driving nonstop across the country to work more 70 and 80 hour work weeks, the hauling equipment, the equipment failure, the hours away from our families to live out the dream, the sweat and many tears that have been part of it... all the hard work that has paid off to have such a great job. I appreciate her friendship and growing with me.

And I would like to extend a huge thanks to Stephen Dantizig, of Dantzig Photography in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is THE most incredible author and fashion photographer. He has been such an inspiration to me from the time I bought his first book and contacted him saying that I was "his biggest fan and could he teach me everything he knows?" He has given such amazing advice and direction in developing my skill, and I couldn't imagine having a better mentor (or more famous one!) And I'm STILL his biggest fan! :) He took the time to take a rookie and explain to me things to do and not to do and I am forever grateful for a business relationship that I am privileged to have.

"So You Think You Can Dance"

I was so thrilled to get to work with three amazing and talented-beyond-belief dancers recently. Each of these three dancers was among the finalists in past seasons of the hit TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance." Not only were they incredible dancers, but such nice people to hang with. This is Heather & Jordan, whose wedding is coming up here in Colorado. We just returned from our latest trip to Arkansas and it's so nice to see equally beautiful images from both places, but the outdoor photographs are just so different! What a great job we have to be able to work in the most beautiful places around the country.

Heather & Jordan were so much fun to work with -- their love and passion for each other is contagious and we cannot wait for their big day that is right around the corner!

The Rocky Mountains are always a nice background for any photo - especially with a beautiful couple snuggling! :)

And you might remember Blake and Danielle's engagement session with some beautiful photographs in front of Pike's Peak. Well, their wedding was lovely, but unfortunately, an incredible Colorado blizzard collided with it and so we got to spend some time with them after the wedding for a make-up shoot to re-enact some of the moments that we *would've* gotten on the actual day... I think that blizzard did us a favor -- how wonderful to be able to relax and enjoy a perfect weather day to get images that I hope this couple will treasure for the rest of their lives...

Back in the South

Ok, I've heard enough about it today... LOL!! I know, I know... I'm behind on the blog -- I guess because Robert handles all the Facebook stuff I figured I could be a slacker on here, but I guess I'll try to whip myself back in shape. So, here goes. Hang on tight!

So... we are back in the South having a wonderful time seeing fabulous returning clients and working with new ones. It's always so fun here (um, bad hair days excluded) and I even got a special treat in the wee hours of the morning before the big Turner-Wood wedding last weekend -- a southern-size thunderstorm that had me giddy for hours!

Now, meet some special people here... more to come, I promise. I will no longer neglect my loyal blog-followers.

This is the beautiful Claire... well, as you can see, "beautiful" is an understatement, now isn't it? Stunning. Sexy. Fabulous. AND... the newest addition at Teresa Lee Models. Big congratulations to her on an incredible future ahead for her in her modeling career. This is Brenn, a high school senior, with whom we set out to "wow" her friends. Mission accomplished (wait till you see the rest of her images!!!!).

This is Amy. And with bittersweet feelings I write this because she's just finished up her chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer. But, as you can gather from this photo, you can know exactly who Amy is. Strong. Powerful. Beautiful. A true survivor. And that is the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

Oh, Miss Hannah.... what a great setting for her senior photos to show off a girly-country-girl in her own surroundings.

Surprise!

There's not much more that I could ask for on a regular ole Wednesday morning while sitting with Robert drinking coffee and browsing around the web before the day gets started other than finding out that I have TWO photos that were recently displayed in Times Square on the Kodak Jumbotron!! Being in the heart of New York City and SEEING them is beyond amazing, and while I wish we would've known about them before so we could've done our normal spontaneous rush off to Manhattan, I am so very excited right now for such a fun and exhilirating surprise to my day.

This image was the featured photo on February 18, 2009 -- Baby King -- one of my most favorite and yummy babies -- now on his SECOND win for me, as he won 2nd place in an International Competition in 2008! This is titled "Lil' Blue Eyes." Congratulations, King family... and thank you... :)
And this one was featured on January 31, 2009, while getting ready for the Super Bowl. Titled, "Pigskin" -- it is available on our website in the Fine Art portion of the Client Section. It also hangs as a focal point in our son's room. So exciting!!! Thank you, Garrett and Daddy, for letting Momma play with your toys! :)

New Model - Sarah

Most Exciting News EVER!

If you know me at all, you know that music is a huge part of who I am. It is part of the fiber that makes me this quirky, passionate, intense, and emotional person. I feel things very deeply and I love that about myself -- and music has so much to do with the person that I've always been... with that being said, one of the most exciting projects I've ever worked on is getting to do a CD cover for recording artists whose music touches me so deeply. And such a CD made its way into my hands today and I could not be more excited!!

So, a little history -- Robert and I will tell you that we fell in love at the Mona Lisa in Manitou Springs many years ago -- I can remember the date, the food, the wine.... it was all so very perfect and it was that evening that we both "knew" that our lives were destined to be together forever... the best night of my life... And then last year, it was at that same place where we met Vivian Gail and Doug Zinn and as Vivian's voice enchanted the entire place, I cried. And that's nothing unusual when I hear beautiful music, but still today, I still cry whenever I hear this voice that will rival any angel's. We were thrilled to get to work on their cd by doing the photography for it, and during a few meetings and late night photo sessions, Vivian's voice captivated our children as she sang them goodnight lullabies.... and I cried the whole time. :)

Below are some photos of the cd itself that I had to snap quickly today, as I was so ecstatic at its release. We are also THRILLED that Doug and Vivian are recording a "soundtrack" for our websites that will be completed in a couple of months. Chris & Ryan Got Married!

Having the honor of sharing in couples' best days of their lives is one of the greatest things I get to do. Being a "wedding photographer" seems like such an inaccurate description of what my job really is. I never take for granted what a huge responsibility it is to be trusted with documenting the romance, passion, and love that is so evident on such a life-changing day. And Chris & Ryan's romantic and dreamy day was one of the most incredible I've experienced.

There's a lot to be said about Southern weddings and Southern brides. I love weddings all over the country that we get to do, but everything is just a little more dramatic in the south. Chris & Ryan's wedding was just outside of Oxford, Miss. at her beautiful aunt's beautiful home on the lake and it was such a beautiful and intimate day that I am privileged to have been a part of. Madison Hotel/Clark's Bridal Shoot

Robert and I just returned from a mid-south trip. One of the highlights being a commercial photo shoot for The Madison Hotel and Clark's Bridal & Formal. What a great time we had!

The Madison Hotel is in the amazing historical downtown area of Memphis and is one of the best luxury boutique hotels in the country... world, actually! It was featured in the Small Luxury Resorts and Hotels of the World.

We photographed a bride & groom at the Madison Hotel in late September and produced amazing photos from their picturesque setting with views of the Mississippi River and the Memphis Bridge from a rooftop patio, so we were thrilled to get to go back and work with the staff of the Madison again. A huge thanks to Josh at the Madison Hotel, and the entire staff, which make the "luxury" part of their description an understatement. We rarely experience this kind of service and helpfulness and they really do go the extra mile.

We staged from the immaculate Presidential Suite there last Thursday, which has sweeping views of the river and downtown. If you ever want to splurge and have a romantic evening this is definitely the place for you.

Another special thanks goes to Shelley and her models from Clark's Bridal & Formal in Jonesboro, AR, for making my job easy with beautiful models and gowns to photograph. I have many gowns of my own in my closet that my girls now play dress-up in that came from Clark's Bridal, so this was also a special assignment for me to get to work with a company that has outfitted me for many formal events back in the day. Their gowns are exquisite and customer service beyond compare.

Below you will see a sample of the stunning images we were able to create for them last week.

Ok, so everyone knows how much we love Carmel-by-the-Sea. Well, 'love' is such a light word to describe such intense feelings... adore, worship, totally in love with... is more like it. We honestly feel like it is our home - where our souls rest and our batteries recharge... it is just our tiny piece of Heaven on Earth...

And along with that comes my love (again, such a light word -- see above...) for fabulous shopping. :) And Ms. Fabulous is THE one store that I'd choose to max out my credit cards. I was suprised by my sweet family for Christmas with so many great goodies from Ms. Fabulous, with the help of owner and Ms. Fabulous, herself, Kara Muzzio.

This charming boutique has THE best and most hip selection of jeans and incredible clothes, not to mention their super-fabulous little gifts. I can't say enough great things about the store and Kara -- if you find yourself in Carmel, stop in and say, "hello" to Kara and the staff and tell them that Teresa really needs a new pair of jeans so she can tell Robert and I'll get a nice new surprise! :)

THE Most Incredible Experience

To say that I have THE coolest job is the understatement of a lifetime. I get to do so many amazing things, travel to incredible places, work with people whose lives touch mine, and form relationships with people that become extensions of my own family. But, today... I witnessed a true miracle. One of my maternity clients gave birth to the most perfect little baby boy today and I was there to document the absolute most amazing event I've experienced besides seeing my own babies for the first time.

When I left the hospital and looked in the mirror in my car, I had to laugh at the mascara running all over my face, but then went back to weeping over the overwhelming reality that I just watched a life being brought into the world. And although my husband would tell you to stay as far away from a birthing room as possible if you don't have to be there, as a woman, wife, and a mother, it was the best place to have been today.

I am honored to have been part of this family's day -- to call it their "special day" just seems a little trite. I saw this little guy's face AS he saw the world for the first time... and it was one of the most beautiful and precious moments of my life, as well. And then to capture Dad's face when he saw his son for the first time... and then mom's face when they gave that little bundle of sweetness to her... you moms out there know that nothing can ever get you prepared for that first time you see that baby's face... and to capture the love on the faces of this husband and wife who see the product of this tiny human that is part of each of them... it was emotional and breathtaking and exhilarating. I feel so privileged that I was able to help this family in preserving those very life-changing moments.

As you can imagine, these events are so very special and intimate, so I'll keep most of these images private. You'll be meeting this little man in about a week and I'll introduce him to you properly. For now, here's a shot of his little sweet foot a few minutes after being born... isn't it the sweetest foot you've ever seen? :)

Now.... go hug your babies... I'm going to hug mine. :)

On the Road Again....

A Very Merry Christmas...

I'm sitting in my home, surrounded by people I love the most (except we're missing Uncle Trent and Aunt Amber) and counting the many blessings that we have. I am smelling my sweet husband's incredible turkey (that would rival anything Gordon Ramsey's could create), looking at an embarassingly large mound of crumpled wrapping paper and boxes, and listening to the best sound in the world, which is the sound of my babies laughing...

Among my blessings I'm counting, also, is the fact that I get the honor of having the career that I have. Getting to know remarkable people and playing a small part in your lifes by helping you preserve memories is one of the greatest joys I know. Thank you to each family who has allowed me to be a part of your life this year - I hope that I have helped to capture a moment in time that you'll never get back but will always treasure.

One of the families who has most touched me this year you will meet below -- aside from spending time with my own family, I couldn't think of a better family to share Christmas Eve with than this family. These guys came from opposite sides of the country to spend Christmas here with their parents and I was touched so much by being able to do this generational photo session. I laughed so hard at their humorous and fun-loving nature, and got choked up at the thought of their sweetness. This is a session I will not forget...

A&E Fairy Shoot

Oh, this fairy shoot was soooo much fun, too! I'm so proud of these younger girls for the courage they have to jump in with the "big girls" and learn alongside them and compete in the same way as the teen models. These ladies have been fun to get to know and I am, again, sad to see this semester end, but thankful for the chance to get to know them. One thing I love about this program is getting to see these young girls and their attitudes develop -- we try to teach them things like how they should act when they go on an audition or for a job and we stress the importance of what a good attitude says to the people who will work with you. I think it is so great that they get to learn these things at such a young age, because it is great for LIFE - not just in the acting world. And I know, personally, that because of the sweetness and the great attitudes that I see in these ladies, it makes me WANT to work with them, so I am hoping to see them again soon, as well.

Now... this challenge winner is Michelle, whose best two images are shown below (we just couldn't choose one favorite of hers). Michelle came into this shoot and really came alive!! She brought her "fairy dust" in with her, as I hope you can see in the first image, and brought an expression that was so magical and she actually looked like a fairy to me. Not just in the costume, but in her presence - that's one thing we try to teach the models, too, is that you not only have to come and look the part, but you have to BE the part. Great job, Michelle, and congratulations to you! :)

Congratulations to these ladies, who have completed their first sememster at the A&E Studio's Modeling Program (www.theaestudio.com) These ladies and gentlemen walk away from the program with 6 ads that they worked on for each challenge after their 12-week program, and tons of confidence to take them into their next journey in life--I am so proud of each of them!! Love you guys!

A&E Couture Shoot

It is a bittersweet moment that I write this post, as we've come to the close of this session of the A&E Modeling Program. I have become so fond of these girls (and guy) and have seen them transform into confident models with skills that are so valuable to the careers they will pursue. It is sad that this group is moving on, but so exciting that we have a new group of faces starting up. So....
This shoot was my VERY favorite, as I love fashion photography and these ladies were styled in a style for a very edgy and editiorial look. It was so very hard to choose the winner of the challenge, but Madi, who is the first model shown here, was very deserving of her challenge win, as she came in with confidence and wore her look very well. Congratulations to Madi!!!

Bianca was last week's challenge winner and did a great job this week, too!

And here's Tristan, who is such a good sport being the only man in the group of a bunch of women! Always bringing that edgy-gothic feel to his fashion images, he delivered nothing less this week...

Chelsea has consistently been one of the sweetest people to work with and that is so very appreciated.

Just a quick reminder to everyone that all orders that need to arrive to you by Christmas need to be in to us no later than 5 p.m. this Friday, December 12th! This includes portrait orders and cards, so get those orders in! If you have any questions, write and let us know -- your cards will be custom-designed based on the images you choose and the layout you choose, so just order them and you and I will work on the design together.

A&E Urban Outfitters/Limited Too

The next challenge for the models was a shoot for Urban Outfitters (for the older ladies) and for Limited Too for the younger guys. We wanted to shoot all outdoors, but that sun insisted on going down, despite my begging it not to. Congratulations to Sophia for her UO Challenge win and Kelsey for the Ltd Too risk-taking pose that won her the week's best shot.

It's so exciting for me to see these guys improve on what they're learning each week. They are not only learning everything about the modeling industry, but I'm seeing their poise and confidence grow each time I see them.

A&E "got milk?"

So, things are so busy and exciting around the A&E Studio in Colorado Springs right now. The A&E Top Model Program is underway and the competition is heating up as these guys are turning it on!! They are learning so much and we are seeing them transform right before us and it's so much fun to watch and be part of.

I'm the in-house photographer for the A&E Studio and on the judges' panel and each of these ladies is doing such a great job. Celebrity Ashton Grant

I am constantly amazed at the job I am so fortunate to have -- I love getting to photograph these hip celebrities and more than that, get to know them. Ashton is just about as down-to-earth, nice gal as you can find. She's a dream to photograph and a blast to be around! She's got tons of new stuff coming up - for one, she'll be at the Chapel Hills Mall on December 6th for a live performance, and you can have the opportunity to be photographed with her, so be sure and come on out if you can!

SNOW!!!!!

I LOVE the snow. Here in our neighborhood, I'm the one who can be found running around in the streets yelling each year when our first snow arrives. And yes, it was me running around the streets early this morning in my leopard print pajamas, so don't call the police on the crazy woman on the loose... :)

AND what this means is that in Colorado, ski season in in full-swing! And for those of you headed to the slopes this year, we've got some exciting things going on for our "Day in the Life" photo sessions. Mmmmm.... those bellies -- if you know me, you know that I ADORE maternity sessions and each time I get an expectant mommy in here, it makes me want another baby soooo bad and sends Rob into a panic. :) And this mommy, Marlo (lovin' her name) made it in just in time, as her baby boy, LAWSON, was born just a short time later. We just had them in for the newborn session and at just over 5 pounds of sweetness, I just love him! And here are some images of baby Lawson in his beautiful mommy's tummy!

Ahhhh, Katie & Jeff... a super-fun wedding we had in the late summer -- they're about to see their wedding images, but I wanted to show some from their pre-wedding session. I love to laugh and well, around this couple, it's hard to keep tears out of my eyes because they are the cutest and funniest people and I have laughed till I cried with them! Jeff, with his signature "tiger pose" is as hilarious a person as I've ever met, and Katie is just as sweet as she is beautiful. New Trip Planned

Ok, guys... due to demand, we are planning a very quick trip back to Wynne for a limited number of sessions at the end of November. We will have sessions available the Friday after Thanksgiving, Saturday, and a few Sunday morning. So, the dates are NOVEMBER 28TH - 30TH. We've already booked a few sessions today, so e-mail us now if you'd like to get on the schedule. The sessions available are mostly studio sessions. Kara & Mark, New Mexico

This is Kara & her new husband, Mark. We travelled to the cutest little town in New Mexico for this sweet couple's wedding. I don't know that I've ever had a bride with more personality than Kara. She and her family were so sweet to us and they're the kind of people you just want to be friends with. I also have never seen a bride have to overcome such obstacles on and leading up to her special day than Kara... and not only that, she met every single challenge with a smile and a cheerful, "That's ok!" This first image of Kara is my favorite from the day. Mark & Kara held their ceremony at the Buckhorn Opera House and Saloon, built in the 1860's -- full of personality and history, it made the perfect setting for a unique and fun-filled day. This is them sitting in one of the boxes at the Opera House.

We put Mark on the bar and had Kara lie down in his lap and I shot this from the balcony...

I always love images of people walking away -- but I have to giggle at this and how cute Kara is... take a look at her shoes. Because it was POURING rain on this day, and so not to mess up her white ballet slippers, she had Mark's sandals on over her shoes. Kara, you are the best!!!!

Come On, Baby, Drive South

This is Robert, for any one who hasn't met him yet. He's the love of my life, my soulmate, my best friend, the ONE person that "gets" me and all my quirkiness, my husband... and my business partner. Working with him again has to be one of the things I'm most blessed with, as since he came on board, the business has transformed with his brilliant marketing ideas and techniques. And not to mention that he's.... well, look at him! No wonder it's hard to get any work done around here when I just want to sit and look at him all day! :)

And now, we're leaving today on a business trip -- all by our little selves (woo hoo!) -- to go see our nice folks in the South. What a great day it's going to be -- Robert driving us across 3 or 4 states (you can so tell I don't pay attention to geography), me sitting in the passenger seat browsing through my mile-high stack of neglected magazines, us searching the AM radio for static-filled Classic Country stations (hey! It reminds me of my childhood, so don't laugh!), or the local "swap and shop" so we can giggle at people trading Rambo tapes for riding lawn mowers or something (we LOVE it!!)... Anyway... ahhh... we get to go in total road-trip mode like we did in the good ole days and it's one of my favorite times with him.

Ok, enough giddy rambling, I'm supposed to be telling you that if you're in the mid-South, we're headed there today and we do have some studio appointments still available, so send us an e-mail or call us. From Pretty Girl to High Fashion Supermodel

One of the things I LOVE doing around here is taking everyday, beautiful girls and transforming them into high fashion supermodel goddeses! :) So.... meet Nadine. I've known Nadine and her family for a few years now and I did her senior portraits a couple years ago. Nadine now works for us as a personal assistant and is such a big help running the kids to and from school and cheerleading and just being here doing whatever she can to help control the chaos in the Lee Family.

Nadine is just about as sweet and genuine a person as you will ever meet. And she's stunningly beautiful, as well. But, I wanted to enlist her help in showing what goes on behind the scenes and to help these girls who come in and say, "Oh, I can't do this..." or "I've never been a model-type..." and things like that. I also wanted to show WHY it's important to wear heavier makeup than you normally do during your photo session - you get behind those lights and it just kind of fades away.... Even if you're a natural girl at heart, makeup in the studio is a must for incredible photos.

With that being said, what we did with Nadine was a little to the extreme. I wanted over-the-top (no, not ME!). I wanted a high fashion photo shoot with a high fashion model. And that's what we got. Nadine has graciously given permission to show her "before" photo and the progression that we made during the course of the shoot. And we were going for a rocker-chic with an attitude look in these. And so you might look at the "before" shot and say that you much prefer her the way she looks before -- smiling and looking natural and happy. Well, that's how we prefer seeing Nadine, too, but models are actors, as well. When you get hired to sell a product, you might not like the product, but you gotta look and act like you do. And Nadine did an incredible job acting her part - I am so impressed with her skill and confidence in front of the camera and I'm sure you'll be seeing more of her. A huge thanks to Allison, our fabulous makeup artist, for helping wiht Nadine's transformation!!!

Green Bay Couple

Meet Amber and Chris - a couple from Green Bay, Wisconsin who got married in a lovely outdoor wedding half way up Pike's Peak. One of THE sweetest couples you'll ever meet. I was so excited to get to meet them the day before the wedding to do a quick engagement portrait session and knew this is a couple destined to make it forever. Goodbye to a Friend

This is Jess Rhodes. I'm sure if you've visited the website, you're quite familiar with this beauty. She came to us to work with Teresa Lee Photography as our Promotions Manager, and somehow along the way, became a really good friend. Jess has been in charge of bringing in new business and has served as our liason with local high schools, representing us at senior photography fairs and events. She also worked with hotels and resorts, and local businesses that we've partnered with - she has done such a great job representing our image and being the "face" of Teresa Lee Photography. We have been so fortunate to have her around here...

She leaves us today for Boston. I know her family is going to miss her and we are going to miss her, as well. We wish her the best of luck in her new adventures and hope she'll come back often to visit.

Thanks for the fun times, Jess - thanks for all the hours trusting me in the studio to do crazy things - thanks for enduring life-threatening sports events (I'm STILL laughing so hard from us almost getting killed!!) -- thanks for all your hard work. Memorial Health Systems Golf Tournament

Robert and I spent the day yesterday at The Broadmoor (one of our very favorite spots in Colorado Springs) for the Memorial Health Systems Golf Tournament. The Foundation is a very special group to me that I volunteer time and services on their behalf. And it was an honor to be able to photograph the participants yesterday as they each had a great time and we enjoyed some of Colorado's... umm.... beautiful and unpredictable weather patterns! :)

Fun People

I have always thought that the best photo sessions come when people bring their senses of humor with them and leave stresses and worries at home. No need to worry if your hair is perfect or any fussy stuff. My tag line for my business, as interpreted via my best friend Shawn, "tell the story without saying a word..." Above all else, I have always wanted every session to give you great insight into a person's life and personality without having to have any words accompany it. And the photos to the side will tell you exactly the kind of fun personality Kindra and Craig have and I laughed so hard at them and their silliness that I just love...

Kindra and Craig came into the studio ready to have fun. I LOVE that about them! Not to mention that they are just beautiful and a photographer's dream, but they had THE greatest idea to do like a "photo booth" session, so this is what we came up with for them. I think it's such a great idea that I'll start doing it more when I get those fun-loving couples in the studio.

We'll see more from Kindra and Craig's session later, but I just loved these too much and had to share them right away.

Sue Barnes

Sweet Kennedy

Now, since just having written the previous post, I've got "Sweet Kennedy" stuck in my head. And here she is -- our little juicy caboose of the Lee clan - and as I was trying to get some cute photos of her, we settled on the fact that, ok, we won't have a meltdown and Mommy won't force you to wear that bow and unlike any of the others, Kennedy hates having her picture made. Would NOT go in front of the lights - cried, screamed, and just would not have it. The first time EVER in my photographic career where I could not get a kid to warm up and let me do portraits... and it's my own kid! We think it could actually just be because we're a little bit spoiled to mommy.... oh, well. You only get one caboose, right? :) Oh, yes - photos courtesy of Lawson Lee.

Sweet Child of Mine

Each of our kids have "their song" that we've given to them. Lawson's got "Brown-Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison. Kennedy's got Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline," where we all will change the words as we burst out into song and you hear, "SWEET KENNEDYYYYY..... DUN-DUN-DUNNN!!!" And here's little Garrett -- oh, how much more "boy" could God have put in this little 4-year-old man... And our song for him is Sheryl Crow's version of "Sweet Child of Mine" - especially the part of "he's got eyes of the bluest skies...." and he does. And Garrett loves trains, so we took off to the tracks close by our house - I only got one presentable image of Garrett, as the rest of him were of the back of his head as he was running to FIND a train... oh, what a way to give Mommy a heart attack.... :) Garrett, I love you and had so much fun on our own little photo shoot. We'll do it again and we'll find a train next time.

Labor Day and Family Time

So, I decided to take a day off... well, while we've been busy in the office, I didn't book any sessions for today and here's why. You photographers know that people expect you to have THE best and most photos of your kids, but it gets so busy that (at least around here), our own babies take the backseat when it comes to having their portraits done. People don't even know what little Kennedy looks like (I just read your comment, Jessica Hughes! :) !! So, I did some portraits of my own babies on this little holiday. And this is Lawson. Most people familiar with the website know her well, as she's by far the most photographed of the Lee children - well, she's just been around the longest, that's why! :)

And when she came downstairs dressed up like this, I HAD to get photos of our little girly-girl princess all decked out in full hip-hop attire (complete with the Betty Boop shirt -- cracks me up!!) Oh, and this first one -- don't you LOVE it when you catch your kids doing something when they don't know you're watching? I'm lovin' this little dance scene! :)

Fresh from the Hospital

Each time I get baby fever (which is a lot these days, with our little "caboose" approaching 16 months...), it's always nice (for Robert, especially) when I have a newborn in the studio. :) And THIS little man... oh, that wrinkly skin, that umbilical cord (or "umbrella cord" that I just heard it called by our 4 year old), that brand new baby smell... mmmm.... makes me wish for another one... until I realized that you guys are so great to let me borrow yours for a few moments and trust me with documenting these very first moments that we'll never get back. This little guy will even look completely different TOMORROW... so thanks, Brian and Lorraine - it was so sweet to have you guys in for your newborn portrait session. Even when he tee-tee'd on us. :) Happens every time and it makes for good memories. See you at 3 months!!

Oh, and Robert, don't worry -- the fever passed -- it's all ok. ;)

Family Portraits

Family portraits.... ah, they seem like so much hassle to get everyone together and looking all pretty, don't they? And dad dreads having to do it because he hates having his picture taken.... well, when you come here, leave all that stress at home -- I promise to never make anyone tuck in their shirt and sit all stiff and yucky. We have FUN! Even these dads shown below will tell you the experience is painless and they get to laugh and play with their families. And you know that the holiday season is coming up and what better gift to get for your friends and family than a portrait of your family (that you KNOW Grandma's been asking for, anyway...) So.... bring the whole family and your sense of humor and get ready to have a relaxed and fun portrait session with your family.

We are booking family portrait sessions right now into October and have some September availability left. Any sessions done before November 1st can guarantee portraits in time for Christmas, so get it on the calendar really soon!

We would also like to extend an invitation to our families who would like to join us in Aspen, Colorado over the weekend of October 16th. I'll be there teaching a class to Aspen High School photography students on how to maximize creativity and to see with a more artistic eye, and we are booking sessions that weekend for families who would like to have portraits done in front of one of THE most beautiful settings. Celebrities Among Us

Teresa Lee, celebrity photographer... I REALLY love the sound of that -- especially when the people are really fun and cool like Hillary Grant...

It's not very often that we get celebrities around here, but when we do, "wow!!!" It's been so fun to work with Hillary Grant and her sister, Ashton Grant (who you'll meet soon)! Hillary is an award-winning choreographer and professional dancer, who has worked on the Disney Channel, CBS, and look for her on upcoming episodes of TLC's "Rock the Reception" (which Robert and I are so completely addicted to - and yes, honey, you know you watch it, too!). She is the in-house choreographer and dance director for the Arts & Entertainment Studio in Colorado Springs (where I just got brought on as their official in-house photographer!!!!!!). And Hillary is just as sweet and kind as she is beautiful.

I had so much fun photographing Hillary on this promotion shoot. And ladies, wouldn't you just DIE for this hair and those eyes?!

Ok, so first of all, I'll start out and just admit it -- I know, I know... I said I'd NEVER blog. Yes, I did say, "never," and I know the old saying, so I'll just eat those words now and say that here I am... I'm going to blog. And it's going to be so much fun because I have so many great clients that I want you all to meet and know about. And I'll start with a very special and incredible gal who wins the prize for traveling the most distance from Boston to Colorado Springs to have her senior portraits done... meet the beautiful, funny, talented - and a bit intimidating, might I add ;) - Kayla Hoyer from Boston. What a fun session this was!!!
